Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and A1Base, Inc. (“A1Base”, “we”), which runs Rate My Rent on the web and in the iOS app. By using Rate My Rent you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Rate My Rent.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. Some campuses are open only to verified students of that school. Keep your A1Base login to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.

What you share

Share only what is true and your own: what you actually pay or paid, and your honest experience. You keep ownership of what you post, and give A1Base a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to host, publish, adapt, aggregate and display it as part of Rate My Rent, including after you delete your account (when it is no longer linked to you).

No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users

Don’t post content that is false, defamatory, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or that reveals someone’s personal information (names of private individuals, phone numbers, addresses, unit numbers). Don’t post spam, ads, or content you were paid to write without saying so, and don’t try to manipulate rents or ratings. There is no tolerance for this: we remove objectionable content, usually within 24 hours of it being reported, and we suspend or remove the accounts of people who post it or abuse others.

Report anything that breaks these rules with the Report option next to it in the app, or by emailing support@a1base.com.

Using the service

Don’t scrape, copy or resell Rate My Rent’s data, overload or break the service, get around access limits, or use it for anything unlawful.

Information on Rate My Rent

Rents and reviews come from students and are shared as they reported them; listings, prices and availability come from properties and partners. We don’t guarantee that any of it is accurate, complete or current. Check with the property before you sign anything. Properties that pay for placement carry a Showcase label; paying never changes students’ rents or ratings.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time and delete your account in the app (You → Delete account) or from Support. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

Disclaimers and limits

Rate My Rent is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the same extent, A1Base isn’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on content on Rate My Rent, and our total liability is limited to $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Apple

If you use the iOS app, these terms are between you and A1Base, not Apple, and Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies. Apple isn’t responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide support for it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms.
